Praise for LIFE IN THE CAVE
As I read Life In The Cave, Celia Marie made me think … what would I do if I thought something was wrong with my health? Would I want to know? Or would I keep plugging along thinking things will just get better. Most of us do not want to disrupt the balance of our family and Celia, in her heart, knew something was wrong; but she did not want to disrupt that balance. I followed my father’s struggles as he battled Colon Cancer and I stood by my husband as he and I dealt with a carotid artery dissection that went undiagnosed for about 6 months. As I read Celia’s diary I knew how my dad and husband struggled with making decisions regarding medications and procedures.
Celia opens her heart and shares her worries and hopes as she is finally diagnosed with Grave’s disease. I am glad Celia has come out of the “cave” to share her story. Anyone who has struggled with or gone through a life changing disease would benefit from reading Life In The Cave.

Great Review from a fellow Tate Author:
Wake Up! That is what Life in the Cave shouts at you. Your body is doing things you wish it was not. Your mind says, “I am way too busy for anything to be wrong.” and it is right; you are! Life as you know it seem more important than symptoms. However, nothing stops the progress that ultimately take you to a man in a white coat who gives you an unthinkable prognosis. Fear serves as a form of paralysis for author Celia Marie as she exposes not only the physical deterioration of what disease (Graves Disease for her) does to your body, while articulating the emotional havoc it plays as disease to your mind, and spirit. Wake Up . . . Look around you . . . Feel what is going on with your work, marriage, family, friends. etc. Recognize they are all losing. You are a spiritual being having a human experience that must change. Celia’s well crafted life story takes you all the way to the bottom where the only place to go is out of the cave. Everyone knows someone who refuses to acknowledge what is real. Read Life in the Cave know the warning signs in your life and pass it on. — Gary Sinclair, Cyberphysiologist and Author Healing Alex

Outstanding Review from a fellow Tate Author:
By Celia Marie
“Life in the Cave is a true, and honest look at what a person—as well as the people around them—goes through when dealing with the diagnosis of a life changing disease. Celia embarks on a no-holds-barred journey from the moment her body first began to change until the seconds leading to the critical surgery. As she guides her reader through her tragic journey, she pays careful attention to the loved ones around her and how they are affected by her newfound circumstances. Unabashed by stigma, Celia’s tale presents the reader with a woman who manages to hit the proverbial rock bottom before that shining moment she decides to take her life back!
Life in the Cave is a book which can truly bring comfort to anyone suffering from Grave’s Disease, particularly because so little is known by the general public about this rare condition. Celia’s story offers a ray of hope to anyone who feels isolated by the crippling symptoms of this disease.
What sets Celia’s story apart from others is that she takes into special consideration the effects her condition had on her family. Not only does her story speak of tragedy and hope to those suffering from chronic or incurable diseases, but also to those who love them. The family ties that helped to give Celia the strength to fight for her life are evident and heartwarming from the onset of her tome.
Whether you find yourself in the grip of Grave’s Disease or another similar circumstance, know someone, or simply wish to find hope in an often darkening world, I highly recommend Life in the Cave. There truly is something to be gained from Celia’s tale for anyone embarks on it.”

Review from a fellow survivor:
I need to begin with thanking you for sending me your book and to have enough confidence in me to review it for you. Sorry I did not get it to you until now. I did receive it last week and read it all in one setting. Sometimes I find it hard to recover from the treatments now and age doesnt help much in that manner….lol As I read your story I cried and rejoiced with you as my Friend and a fellow survivor. As I was diagnosed with Colo-rectal cancer stage 4 almost 17 yrs ago I was told I would not live to leave the hospital let alone live a yr. My children were small as well then and I also prayed to be able to be around to see them grow and go into life. My heart went out to you and your daughter and family as I remembered all that my family went through doing the surgery, chemo & radiation daily for 3 1/2 yrs. There were days that you just prayed to have God take it all away and be done with it. Then you would see your children and loved ones and know what the fight is for. I to believe that the power of love and prayers and a strong will got me thus far. Remembering the days of treatments and all the side-effects and mostly the fatige is more than you can really explain in words its something that you have to live through to fully comprehend. I cried for you when you lost your hair as I remember mine falling out, but I was prepared for that; the part that really got me “mad” was when I lost my eyelashes…I’m a girl for gosh sakes! I cried and prayed reading your story as I think of all that I have shared a similar situation with some that have fought and won, some lost and some still fighting. My Papa was one of such people who was diagnosed with cancer a few years after myself and lost the battle. You find yourself wondering why God would spare you to go on and fight yet another and another battle and take someone so Good as you feel before their time. Yes I know that God has a greater plan, and I relish in the fact that he gave you the strenght and power to fight your fight. I look forward to reading the next excerpt of your battle to see where the fight will take you. You have written your “diary” so well that it takes one inside your story and live the experience with you. My Love and prayers go out to you and I know that you will be victorious. Your Friend; Val Gladden

Review from a Fellow Tate Author
“Feeling honored to have the opportunity to review a fellow Tate author’s book, I sat down to immediately read LIFE IN THE CAVE the afternoon I received it in the mail. I finished it in one sitting.
I had no idea what Grave’s Disease was before reading this book. Now I am beginning to understand the physical symptoms, emotional trauma, and mental stress associated with this condition. As I read, I empathized with Ms. Marie’s struggles as she fought to deny her symptoms for so long. Being a teacher, mother, and wife myself, I understood her desire to continue to successfully fill each role, as well as the frustration and agony she experienced when her symptoms prevented her from doing so.
Ms. Marie writes in a personal journaling style, enabling us to see into her thoughts, fears, frustrations, and choices throughout the course of the book. I believe that giving this insight could be invaluable to others who are experiencing similar symptoms. Reading this book might very well save others from experiencing some of the heartache Ms. Marie went through before her diagnosis.
If you have a loved one dealing with undiagnosed health issues, encourage him or her to read LIFE IN THE CAVE. It may answer some of the questions they are afraid to voice aloud.” Karina Harris

“I’m certainly at that point of having to find the will to live. I spent a good share of last night fretting about burial arrangements as an imminent challenge after all of the pervasive fatigue this week. That “choosing to live” thing has stuck in my mind.” Anonymous

Amazing at what you have learned and gone through…it helps you in all aspects of your life. This is a book that can help everyone struggling with their relationship with God, friends, and spouses. It teaches you how to pray and the commitment you had to not letting Maria grow up without you. The book is full of information and very educational. “I just finished your Life in the Cave book Celia. I couldn’t put it down. So could relate to the relationship with your only child, Maria, and how she is your life. I don’t meet many that have just one child, and it was cool that you expressed your closeness with her…I felt sad that I lived here in the same town and had no idea the suffering you were enduring. I’m so sorry for all you’ve been through… Your book is an encouragement to couples that are having hard times.” Michelle Sedgewick Dufek
